Disability Advocate
for people from a non-English speaking background (NESB)
The program is a
cooperative venture between Multicultural Disability
Advocacy Association (MDAA) and Disability Advocacy
NSW Inc (DA).
This position is one of
three regional individual advocacy positions for
NESB people operated by MDAA. The other positions
are in the Illawarra and Riverina/Murray regions.
The MDAA employs the
NESB advocate who is based at DA and is supervised
by a senior DA advocate. The position is funded by
the NSW Department of Ageing, Disability and Home
Care (DADHC).
The NESB Advocate mainly
assists clients through individual advocacy in a
similar way the DASH advocates work.

speaking background (that means that either you or
at least one of your parents or grandparents were
born in a country where the main language spoken is
not English) and you have a disability or you are a
carer of a family member of a person with a
disability. MDAA is unable to assist people over 65
years of age who have acquired their disability are
the age.
